Vicar- Rev Mark Williams

New picture of Vicar

My full name is Howell Mark Williams -known as Mark. I was born in Aberdare in 1956 but spent most of my early years in Clydach in the Swansea Valley where I attended St.Mary's. I became a Christian in 1981 through a Bible Study group and was one of three people from that group to go on to ordination in the Church in Wales. I trained at St.Michael's College, Llandaff (you had to go where you were told in those days) and was ordained Deacon in 1987 and Priest 1988. I served a two year curacy in the Parish of Swansea, St.Thomas under two successive vicars Rev David Rees and Rev Martin Davies, before moving to become team vicar in the Benefice of Aberystwyth under
Rev Canon Stuart Bell. After nearly four years there, responsible for St.Anne's, Penparcau I moved to Hirwaun succeeding the late Russell Chiswell. After six years in that parish I moved to where I currently serve, the Parish of Swansea, St.Peter's (Cockett) taking over from the late Rev Canon Gordon Lee.

I am married to Hazel a speech and language therapy assistant and we have four children: Sarah (married to Tom) who lives in Bristol and works in a Mental Health Hospital, Ben who fronts a band called Riot Lights (and was formerly with the Wailing Jacks) and works in
Brighton, Hannah who is studying in Gorseinon College and Ruth who is in Gowerton Comprehensive.
